Rum has gotten a bad rap in the past because “there are no rules to making rum or what you can add to it.” Well . . . this is true to an extent. In the same way that there are no rules to how one must make whiskey. But then you get into the sub categories that we all know and love: Scotch, Bourbon, Irish Whiskey, and so on. Those all have very strict rules about the way they are made. The same is true of the rum category: Jamaica, Martinique, Guyana, Guadalupe and so on all have quite strict rules on how it is made. At this tasting we’ll explore some of these regions and the rules they have in place to make sure the quality of product coming out of their respective countries is top notch.
We’ll also taste one rum that has additives so you can taste the difference and hopefully be able to identify it in future rums you try.
Tickets will be available soon.
