I was recently on a wine trip to Argentina and Karim was one of several winemakers I met. I am so glad he is making the trip to the region because he was the winemaker I was felt had the most humble approach to making wine in Argentina and yet was making some of the best wines I tasted on the trip.
When we sat at Karim's table at the winery, he and his family were the best hosts you could imagine. They brought out a meal of probably 12 courses of Lebanese dishes. This type of food is exactly what I love, so I was immediately enamored, and the space made it all the more romanic.
I was also impressed by Karim's personality: shied from talking about himself, was more interested in the people around him and talking about music, philosophy, politics, and on. He is clearly a very intelligent person.
In particular, I am excited to show you his La Consulta Select. It is a red blend from La Consulta. This is a subregion of Uco Valley - a particular wine growing region in Mendoza, Argentina. It would be analogous to Washington➡️Willamette Valley➡️Dundee Hills or Eola Amity Hills.
We’ll taste through 6 Altocedro Wines together and have a 5 course dinner with Karim Mussi as our Guest of Honor.
